About Kathleen Smith

Data management has long been at the center of my career, so I know that data integrity is everything.I understand the importance of data quality and accuracy, especially in the non-profit sector. I’ve seen the profound effect these have on customer relations, meaningful reporting, and fundraising – including prospect research and acquisition. In my experience, setting data entry standards and procedures are key to collecting current and relevant data. They also simplify the process of quantifying and interpreting data, and make it easier to share information. I’ve found this to be true no matter what an organization does or the size of its database.Along my career path, I have seen the view from most corners of the philanthropic world – from international organizations to local non-profits, legacy institutions to new startups, grantmaking to consulting. I’ve collected data from public and government sources, private non-profits, mailing list services, and input thousands of records myself. The experience and knowledge I have gained from these helps me relate to the challenges found in each area and makes mea valuable asset.
