About Kathryn Conrad

I am currently the Senior Program Coordinator for Basic Needs at Colorado State University, out of the SLiCE (Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement) Office, working primarily with the CSU Basic Needs Collective and Rams Against Hunger. Our goal is to ensure that CSU students and employees need not forgo meeting their basic needs at the expense of a degree. While our department works directly with addressing food insecurity on campus, we work with lovely partners across campus to help address Housing and Transportation insecurity, among other Basic Needs insecurities. These are just a few of the crucial areas that need to be taken seriously on higher education campuses nationwide, and I am proud and energized to be doing this work at one of the leading edge Basic Needs programs in the country. In addition to my full-time position, I instruct A Call to Lead-DASH, the accelerated version of the first year of The President's Leadership Program at CSU. I also direct marketing efforts for the SLiCE office, overseeing website and social media management, as well as tabling, presentations, and speaking engagements to promote our office's services.I am a graduate of Colorado State University, having earned a Bachelor of the Arts in Political Science with a concentration in Global Politics and Policy, and Women’s & Gender Studies, with a minor in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies in the Spring of 2022. I am in the process of earning my Master's degree as a part-time student, while I work.I am a life-long Girl Scout, and not only made a lot of memories growing up, but also learned many of the fundamental skills that define much of who I am. These skills include leadership, resilience, empathy, fairness, confidence, kindness, and loyalty, among others. Girl Scouts gave me a home away from home, and a space to process the hard lessons in life and turn them into something fruitful and valuable. I am a better person and a better professional because of my time as a Girl Scout.
