With a Diploma in Theatre Design, I was offered a place at Sadlers Wells Theatre School in London, to continue my studies, for a year, with the Motley Design team, working with current Directors in the London Theatres and Covent Garden. I continued working in London for a short time at the National Theatre at the Old Vic, working in props, wardrobe and scenic painting, then the Young Vic, alongside familiar famous names such as Lawrence Oliver, Joan Plowright, Anthony Hopkins, Christopher Plummer and Paul Schofield to name a few. Although I was then offered a position in the wardrobe department at the Old Vic, I decided to take the opportunity to join a new production team at the Newcastle-on-Tyne University Theatre, to be Deputy Head of Wardrobe.I then spent some years in repertory Theatre, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Birmingham, working in production wardrobes, assisting designers to choose fabrics and then to make up bespoke garments for productions.I have since spent a number of years in many diverse roles, ranging from programming, shorthand secretarial, PA, clothing designer for client in Dusseldorf, PA, Office manager, technical administrator, supporting a range of companies ranging from Photographic to Pharmaceuticals, to high-tech aerospace companies.I then made the decision to go back to my gift of art and design work, which very often came in very useful whilst employed in the diverse range of companies mentioned. My love of working with fine fabrics and creating a professional finish to my work, attracted me to making unique quirky clothing and tailored outfits and making beautiful traditionally upholstered pieces. This further developed into silk painting, digital design work on fabrics and watercolour painting and sourcing high-end fabrics to make beautiful items, I designed my Dreamweaver website to showcase these skills.
