  • The Marian Cheek Jackson Center For Saving And Making History
    Co-Director Of Public History
The Marian Cheek Jackson Center For Saving And Making History Jun 2019 - Present
Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States
As co-director of public history, I co-lead our oral history program that records the stories of residents of the historically Black neighborhoods of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and the surrounding area. Through our showcase website, From the Rock Wall (www.fromtherockwall.org), community gateway monuments, K-12 curriculum development, and regular public events, we bring history back to the community and on to the next generation in creative, engaging ways. As our namesake, Mrs. Jackson, said, "Without the past, you have no future," and the Jackson Center's public history programming is helping to build a future of neighbors living close, connected, and proud in the greater Chapel Hill area.
