• Worked on a team to conduct a literature review on the impact of COVID and climate change on food insecurity within Schenectady County, create and conduct surveys and data collection methods in the county and create an updated “Healthy and Equitable Food Action Plan for Schenectady” the first since before COVID (2017)• Worked independently to map current food access resources in Schenectady County and created a Master list of County resources, with information on food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency housing, and more.• Worked to manage physical and virtual inventory for Schenectady County’s Emergency Preparedness team, and switch county inventory onto the MERIT (Medical Emergency Response Tracking) system, taking over the project from an employee who left the team.• Evaluated the Healthy Living 360 Program on a team with another Fellow, utilizing pre and post surveys, observation, and demographic data collection.• Assisted with grant writing on food insecurity, environmental education, and workforce strengthening. • Participated in community outreach for CCE Programming, including Sustainability and Composting • Helped to provide health education on a variety of topics to the community, including Environmental education and Nutrition education

The School of Public Health in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) explored options to increase access to insulin for individuals with diabetes, including convening a group of experts and developing a report that identifies:a) Options for enrolling uninsured eligible individuals into health coverage which provide comprehensive coverage for persons with diabetes;b) Barriers in access to information regarding costs within the insulin supply chain;c) Actions that could be undertaken by the state to hold manufacturers accountable for price increases and transparency in drug pricing;d) Options for increasing affordability and access to insulin for uninsured and underinsured individuals; ande) Opportunities to engage with insulin pharmaceutical manufacturers for a public/private partnership to provide affordable insulin drugs to those lacking access to such drugs.My Duties: • Literature search, review and analysis of existing diabetes programs nationwide.• Conducted an environmental scan of the issue on the federal, state, and local level• Compiled and synthesized results of literature review and environmental scan into a report to be presented to the DOH.• Assisted in the development of meeting agendas for external workgroups• Contributed to the preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations• Participated in workgroup meetings and conference calls with the study team
