Hired as Director of Human Rights Compliance and promoted to Deputy Commissioner. Created programs in education, intervention, and constituency building as an organized response to discrimination, hate crimes, and community tensions. As Director, managed human rights compliance unit and directly supervised staff of unionized investigators in the intake, drafting, investigation, and possible resolution of employment and public accommodation discrimination complaints. Prepared binding precedent, drafted and amended Commission’s rules and regulations. As Deputy, managed community relations unit (23 staff members) that included mayoral appointments, the directors of advisory councils (African, Arab, Asian, Gay/Lesbian, Immigrant and Refugee, Latino, Women, and Veterans) and members of inter-group relations staff. Active in public speaking, training, and presenting seminars.
