My practice focuses on local government law, primarily representing Title 32 special districts as general counsel, including fire protection districts, emergency medical services/ambulance districts, park and recreation districts, and water and sanitation districts, as well as emergency service and water authorities.I frequently present on matters impacting local governments in Colorado, including such topics as board governance and best management practices, employment and personnel, open meetings laws, open records laws and HIPAA. I enjoy working closely with the Special District Association of Colorado each year to update and produce the Board Member Manual and participate as a speaker at the annual Board Member training workshops and annual SDA Conference. Prior to joining Collins Cockrel & Cole I managed the open space grant program for Great Outdoors Colorado. Outside of the office you can find me riding one of my many bicycles...sometimes riding through a snowstorm to the office...behind a camera lens, reading, traveling, volunteering as a foster parent for homeless animals, and playing with my own two orange cats and rescued Great Pyrenees/Poodle puppy (who is nearly as tall as I am).
