Responsible for teaching Pre-AP English classes to 9th grade students. The primary focus of Pre-AP and AP literature classes is analysis. I teach students to critically analyze fiction and nonfiction. Analysis is focused on style, details, literary devices, and author's purpose. I also teach students how to write a critical analysis of fiction and nonfiction with the focus on developing a strong thesis statement and providing textual evidence as proof of thesis. My course instruction also includes vocabulary building, mechanics instruction, and reading comprehension.Met weekly with PLC to review classroom goals, progress toward goals, and solutions to problems.
