After 23+ years of serving the public K12 schools in Southwest Colorado, I've elected to retire from the Durango 9-R School District so that I may continue to follow my passion of serving and supporting all K12 schools in their quest to enhance and improve their schools safety and security measures. In 2008, as the safe schools project director for the Durango School District, we were awarded a Readiness in Emergency Management (REM) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. In 2010, I briefly served as the Southwest Homeland Security Coordinator before moving over to the San Juan BOCES where I began working directly with the nine regional K12 school districts as the Regional Safe School Coordinator. In 2015, I applied for and was awarded the CDE School Emergency Management grant on behalf of the nine (9) public schools in the region. In the fall of 2016 I accepted the position of Safety & Security Director for the Durango School District 9-R. I stood-up a department of seven(7) Security Specialists.
