About Kathy Rees
I had 30 wonderful years of working in the educational system in the United States. Then our family moved to Guangzhou, China where for the next 4 years I was the Head Librarian, responsible for the operation of two libraries, at an international school in Guangzhou, China. One library is an Early Childhood library and the other library spans grade 1-13. Everything that we learn in our lives is shaped by our own societal surrounding, everything from where we grew up, to how we were raised, to the religion we choose to practice, to how we are governed at both the state and national levels. We develop our own personal depths of knowledge based on that fact which allows us to understand some concepts much more implicitly while stifling and restricting our understanding of others. The above two sentences is exactly why being part of educating children to live in a more global society was such an exhilarating opportunity for me as an International Educator. But even more exhilarating is returning to the United States and working as an On-line Adjunct Professor for Marshall University in their Library/Media Department. Sharing all of the knowledge and experiences I have accumulated the last 34 years in education by teaching University students has always been the capstone goal of my career! I am driven by the need to make a difference in the lives of children and those who do the same. I cannot think of a better way to continue impacting the educational lives of children than by teaching university students to do the same. My role as an Adjunct Professor is to empower my students to “ripple on” by advocating for themselves, their library and for their students.
Listed skills include School Administration, Special Education, Curriculum Development, Public Speaking, and 3 others.
