CurrentUnit: Neurosciences DepartmentThe Neuroscience RN applies the nursing process and is an individual contributor to the medical management of adult patient who are experiencing a wide variety of neurological issues, such as, Parkinson's disease, encephalitis, multiple sclerosis, meningitis, strokes and other brain injuries, dementia, spinal cord injuries, epilepsy, birth defects that have affected the nervous system, and others.Some of the duties carried out include:Assist in the administration of medicationEvaluate and identify the needs of the patientTake comprehensive patient historyAssess the patient's response to various treatmentsCommunicate and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teamAssist patients with physical rehabilitationCarry out physical and neurological examinationsComfort family and loved ones of the patientAssist physicians during diagnostic procedures like CT scans and MRIsEducate and provide informative resources to patients and their loved onesCome up with strategies to help patients manage and live with their disabilitiesDocument treatment processes
