I'm a very accomplished editor, writer, and speaker. I excel at communicating clearly. In 2005, I founded a consultancy called Libraries Are Essential. My niche is library marketing, promotion, and public relations. Most of my work today is in writing, training, consulting, and speaking on those topics.Between 2005 and 2008, I partnered with a colleague to write a marketing communication plan for a state library and a marketing plan for a large (20-branch) public library system. In 2009, I published a book called "The Accidental Library Marketer." It's an A-to-Z guide for library workers who need to do marketing and promotion, but have never learned how. Some LIS professors are using the book to teach their marketing classes.Between early 2015 and late 2017, I founded and chaired a new event called the Library Marketing and Communications Conference, with the backing of Amigos Library Services and many other hard-working volunteers who believed that library workers needed a place to get solid MarCom education. After 3 successful LMCCs, I stepped down as chair. The conference continues to grow each year. Find more on my website, www.LibrariesAreEssential.com.
