Worked with clients to develop and implement communications and media relations strategies, create messaging and develop stakeholder-specific communications. Crisis management experience included litigation, regulatory actions, product failures and activist shareholders. Developed and conducted crisis communications simulations and media training exercises for senior executives. IR experience included presentation training for earnings calls, advising on content and presentation for investor days, developing shareholder outreach materials.

Oversaw business, economics and technology coverage in Newsweek magazine, including an expanded monthly business section. Created Newsweek's annual “Green Rankings” franchise, which rates the environmental impact of the 500 largest public U.S. companies. Wrote an occasional column about parenting, among other articles. Named assistant managing editor for the back-of-the-book sections in August 1997. Created “The Tip Sheet,” a weekly section for consumers that covered health, personal finance, parenting, gadgets and travel. At various times, had top edited environment, society, lifestyle, health and arts coverage. Managed staff of up to 25 writers and editors.

Editor of the Marketplace page. Started at The Journal as a reporter and writer covering consumer-products marketing. Created and wrote a twice-weekly column called "MarketScan" before being named Editor of Marketplace.

Staff Editor in New York. Began as a reporter and writer in the magazine's Minneapolis bureau. Later worked as a correspondent in Cleveland and Chicago.
