I am healthcare consultant, assisting organizations achieve excellence in quality and patient safety. I have held progressive leadership positions as a physician executive, in both the public and private health care sectors. As a preventive medicine/public health physician, I have worked in a variety of health care settings, holding clinical, administrative and research positions in California, Guam and Wisconsin. My background includes leadership roles in quality, patient safety, patient experience, women's health and public health. My international experience includes projects throughout the world.My career has focused on quality, safety and patient experience through the implementation of evidence-based processes, including patient/community partnerships. My research has encompassed epidemiological investigations as well as Phase III clinical trials in patient-and family-centered care, women’s health, medication safety, and infection prevention in both ambulatory and hospital settings. I have published my results and lectured nationally on these topics. I am involved in medical education at several academic institutions, as a lecturer, preceptor, and member of Resident Advisory Councils. My formal training includes a medical degree as well as a master's in epidemiology. I am a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Certified Professional in Patient Safety, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, and TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer. I completed a fellowship in patient safety leadership through the American Hospital Association, and training in systems engineering, PDSA, Lean, and clinician coaching.
