I’m an Associate Research Scientist at Yale University, where I use a synergistic computational and neural circuit approach to identify how behavior influences neural activity, and ultimately perception and cognition.My research focuses on how behavioral states like attention and arousal affect the brain’s processing of visual information. I explore how these internal states alter neural activity and influence our perception of the world. To investigate these dynamics, I design and implement experiments and data analysis pipelines that extract insights from high dimensional, multimodal neural and behavioral data, including large-scale neural recordings, pupillometry, videos of animal movement, visual stimuli, and task outcomes.I’ve built a strong foundation in both theoretical and experimental neuroscience, with a Bachelor’s and Master’s in mathematics from the University of Waterloo, a PhD from the University of Toronto focused on computational modeling of neural circuits, and postdoctoral research in systems neuroscience at Yale University. I’ve published 16 papers in top-tier journals, have mentored and led cross-functional research teams of junior scientists, and secured over $1.2 million dollars in research funding. I am ultimately passionate about translating complex neural data into meaningful insights that deepen our understanding of the brain and pave the way for advancements in neuroscience and brain-computer interactions.
