Following a successful 10-year in-office career in publishing as a book and journal editor, including serving as senior book editor and managing editor of two international medical journals, I have been freelancing as an editor and proofreader from my home office in central Illinois since October 2009. I have several clients in many different areas, including medical/dental publishing, academic publishing, and corporate and nonprofit marketing and communications. I also manage content for two websites. I enjoy taking on new challenges and projects and pride myself on being thorough, timely, and accurate. In 2011, after practicing yoga on my own for many years, I completed a 30-day training at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Farm in Grass Valley, California, obtaining my 200-hour yoga certification. Since then I have been teaching a few yoga classes per week both from my home and in nearby Bloomington-Normal, Illinois.I am active in my community, serving as vice president of the nonprofit organization CORE (Community Organization for Revitalization and Expansion) of McLean, Illinois, the small town in which I reside. Among other projects with the group, I have served as a race director for the run/walk Get Your 6.6 on Route 66! since its inaugural debut in 2014 and manage the community Facebook page, working with village officers as well as other civic groups to keep community members informed about and engaged in community activities.
