Excited to be working with all our fisheries monitoring programs here in BC, and developing new electronic logbooks for vessel masters globally

Oversee our groundfish hook and line commercial fishing monitoring program, which includes field, office, and remote staff in multiple cities along the BC coast. My direct reports supervise the port operations, data processing and auditing, electronic monitoring, and client care for the program. Our team works together to provide a variety of catch monitoring program services to commercial fishers in British Columbia who make a large contribution to the Canadian economy and food system through harvesting seafood sustainably for domestic and international sale. My role is to ensure the smooth operations of this multifaceted program and to contribute to the wider company leadership.

Work with the fisheries monitoring program director and responsible for ensuring smooth operation of the electronic and dockside monitoring programs for groundfish fisheries. Primary duties include tracking of data processing and delivery deadlines for our teams in the office and in the field, providing ongong feedback and coaching, performing data quality checks, recruitment, hiring, and training, as well as customer support

This year I’m taking the lead in Archipelago’s groundfish data team to ensure smooth operations and client satisfaction as we serve the stakeholders of the commercial groundfish fishing industry.Projects include integration of two of our apps into one more holistic and simplified app; and coordinating the development of a new app to reduce redundancy and data entry in one of our main programs. All the while, monitoring daily operations of our data team to maintain synergy and even workloads amongst team members.

As an Apps Coordinator, I coordinate app developers, QA testers, and stakeholder expectations throughout app development projects, and coordinate a network for ongoing customer support.As a Data Coordinator, I ensure that data flows from collectors in the field to government regulators and industry stakeholders according to program requirements. A major part of this is coordinating the distribution of work amongst co-workers and fostering a sense of teamwork.

As apps coordinator I work with program managers, industry stakeholders, and our developers to test and improve upon our customer facing apps, as well as provide customer support using the apps. As Trawl Coordinator, I'm responsible for tracking and processing our landing data for the trawl program before submitting it to government and other stakeholders.

As Operations Coordinator for our at-sea observer program, I am responsible for logistics and coordination of staff who perform biological samples and catch monitoring at sea on board commercial trawl vessels off the coast of British Columbia fishing out of 4 major ports. In my role as Data Technician I perform data quality checks on data collected at sea and by our dockside observers and follow up with feedback to celebrate successes and identify opportunities for growth.

In this position I provided support for our fisheries monitoring program through field staff coordination, client support, data entry, and by training new staff. I also helped to bridge gaps between the different project teams within our division.

I discovered my passion for customer service while working in restaurants as a server. There I honed my interpersonal skills and learned the art of turning difficult customers into happy, repeat customers.
