Lead the development and implementation of TSTC’s Career Pathways Model– an integral part of TSTC’s overall curriculum strategy that leads students to high skill, high wage careers. Will work in tandem with program leadership, VP Career Services, Student Learning Senior VPs, SkillsEngine and other TSTC departments as needed to ensure completion of the 6-step model. Develop best practices for industry and quality placement for students. Analyze labor trends, markets, and projections, specifically as it relates to the Student Learning program development, vision and strategy. Develop internal career pathway maps and communication tools, and strategies to informTSTC leadership, faculty, staff, and policy makers about pathways available at TSTC.Collaborate with Workforce training on utilizing Calibrate to create customized training opportunities for industry partners. Support all college departments to align systems that will support career pathways and the learners pursuing a pathway credential. Support programs in designing or modifying program curriculum to incorporate careerpathways. Provide training and presentations to internal departments and external (advisory boards) on the Career Pathway model and Calibrate.Create reports on the programs’ use of Calibrate and track each program’s status within the Career Pathway model.Evaluate the effectiveness of the Career Pathway using TSTC resources such as reports from Business Intelligence.Participate in state and national career pathways conferences and projects to advance the college’s work and to contribute to the greater higher education community.

- Coach for 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX) - Participant in the Emerging Leaders Program (5-month program)Current Project - Developing a language institute for the Alamo Colleges District. - Developing a TEFL Certification Program - Writing a business plan that reflects thorough research of a market analysis, trends in intensive English programs, specific opportunities, innovation in language programs (blended learning and flipped classrooms), and proposed programs - Developing customized programs to meet market demand: Integrated Content Area English and English for a Specific Purpose (ESP), specifically for business, healthcare, hospitality and technical English. - Organized a steering committee with members from Alamo Colleges, University of the Incarnate Word, University of Texas San Antonio, and the Greater San Antonio Society of Chinese Professionals. Key accomplishments in this position include: (1) developed process to hire and pay instructors within the department;(2) redesigned training and development budgets and increased communication with finance department to improve accuracy of budgets and reconciliation;(3) collaborated with the Finance department to improve the initial set up of operational budgets to increase accuracy resulting in less time transferring funds; and, (4) initiated the development of checklists for training and development programs from first contact to final award ceremony.

During my first month at NLC: - I recruited and hired 12 English, math and reading instructors from several Alamo colleges to teach the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSI) prep courses to high school freshman. - Developed summer camps and initiated a Facebook marketing campaign by designing Facebooks ads that targeted the local community. These just-in-time ads, along with building relationships with local city governments, kept the community programs department engaged with the community. - All classes, procedures and processes were developed from scratch.

Director of Customized and Continuing Education (CE)• Conducted training for instructors on developing 5-column models to comply with recommendations from SACSCOC.• Supervised three coordinators, three administrative assistants, a handful of adjunct faculty and six full time faculty. Directly responsible for the reporting of four state grants and the success and growth of six departments.During my first year as the CE Director, the CE department generated a 172% increase in revenue over FY14 (FY14 $85,343.00; FY15 $231,759.00). This is the most revenue generated by the CE department in the last five years. CE also secured a $20,000 grant for Skills for Small Business training from TWC.Accomplishments:Grant management• Wrote a Skills Development Fund proposal for $163,767 for customized training for a manufacturing company. • Developed a training schedule for 88 employees in 16 different types of training.• Administered four grants in excess of $800,000. • Led the preparation of an audit by the Texas Comptroller's Office on two grants. Prison program redesignThe prison program averaged 350 students enrolled in 25 different classes every eight weeks. The prison program was previously managed by two full time staff member. Staff was cut to one full time staff member and oversaw by the director. • Spent approximately three weeks conducting an analysis of the procedures to enroll students and manage the prison program. o Created a new procedure to enroll the students into a program instead of each class. o The registration process became streamlined and was simplified for the students, prison facilitator and instructors. Online registration• Facilitated the development of online registration for CE students. • Worked with IT and the programming department to develop the online registration form for the CE students. This quickly decreased the amount of paperwork needing to be processed in the CE department.
