Work as needed on a temporary basis to assist with administrative-related assignments for a diverse range of organizations throughout the Chicago area.

Oversaw a group of over 1,000 high school students for a period of 10 days per session with 4 sessions in total as a part of the Intensive Law and Trial Program at Stanford University. My responsibilities included: leading group meetings with a smaller class of an assigned 16 students, facilitating learning of complex legal concepts, aiding the students in creating and performing legal materials in a mock trial court case, and forming an environment of learning and growth. Through an application of developmental and counseling psychology education, I was able to recognize individuals' unique needs to optimize their learning through the program. Additionally, I communicated with families dropping off and picking up their students to assuage any concerns they had, collect medical and mental health information, and act as a point reference regarding specific instructions about the program. I also instructed my coworkers on how to handle mental health concerns and crises. I personally aided scholars struggling with mental health issues, emotional concerns, and past traumatic experiences.

I oversaw and helped manage the largest Mock Trial Team in the country. As the Vice President, I supervised inter-team logistics, helped to quell interpersonal issues, acted as a point of contact for all members with questions or concerns, and was a liaison between competitors and coaches. Part of my job was also handling competitors' sensitive information and maintaining a balance between the personal and the professional in the team environment. I acted as an advocate for the members of the team, working on their behalf to acquire equal distribution of resources and coaching. I worked to make sure their voices were heard in executive meetings and during discussions with the head coaches. In that role, I acted as a check and balance in decision-making processes regarding hiring, firing, and competitive status. I also managed bookings and dissemination of information regarding travel and scheduling for events and competitions. Additionally, I coordinated communication and built lasting relationships with University staff, local attorneys and judges, and third-party sponsors. During my time with the team, I also created, implemented, and presented a new member education program to train and develop new members.

I was in charge of membership recruitment and retention. The team received the highest influx of new members from previous years and experienced one of the best years of membership retention during my time as Membership Coordinator. I ensured members of the team were having a good experience through regular check-ins and personal meetings to address concerns. I gained experience empathizing with and solving member concerns in a professional capacity. When I was first elected to the position, I created new recruitment materials, organized a team to further recruitment efforts and delegated tasks to the members, coordinated the reservations of presentation spaces with University officials and professors, and organized and presented a seminar to inform and attract potential new members. During my time as Membership Coordinator, I created and implemented a new member education course that continues to exist after my departure and has demonstrated success in the rise of team placements and wins at invitational tournaments and overall competitiveness of the Trial Team.

I worked in a demanding customer service capacity managing all office functions, including leasing, property tours, payment collection and processing, problem-solving, and vendor management. I also assisted residents with answering questions and resolving any concerns they may have had. I created marketing and statistical spreadsheets, performed detailed property inspections, explained contracts and rules to residents and their families, and kept detailed records of potential and current clients. Throughout my time as a Community Assistant, I communicated with residents, prospective residents, and parents over the phone and in-person in a clear and concise manner, marketed our property within the community, assisted managers in auditing lease files and financial statements, and assisted in the training and on-boarding of 10 new employees. At the end of my employment, until the point I graduated from college and had to leave, I was the only CA to clear our T12 list of outstanding leasing agreements on a consistent basis.

I facilitated research and guided research participants through their tasks. After each session, I recorded and analyzed the data collected from those studies. Throughout my time with the Web Lab, I gained experience working with statistical software, collecting and distributing data, paying strict attention to detail, and providing academic oral and written communication. I conducted hours of independent research and literature review, then analyzed and presented psychological theories and inquiries to the other members of the lab, professors, and Ph.D. students in a formal setting. I worked on two different projects with two Ph.D. candidates: 1. Emotional recognition study created in order to develop an American version of the “Reading of the Mind in Film” task, which measures theory of mind ability. 2. Created a game to measure threat perception based on socioeconomic and familial status.

I had the opportunity to become involved in the inception of a podcast created to discuss and inform listeners about how psychology can affect their everyday lives and how it can be used as a tool to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. I utilized Audacity audio editing software to edit this podcast that focused on political, current, and historical issues from a psychological perspective. I also contributed to the creation of the subject matter being discussed and the content presented in the podcast, specifically having to do with legal psychology.
