Designed the user interfaces and wrote the functional specifications for two portable reading devices for the blind and visually-impaired. Wrote user and developer documentation as well as embedded help and system messages for these products. Also created web sites for Springer Design and the BookCourier line of products. Responsible for information design, content development, and implementation of the sites. For this small company, handled just about any task that required excellent written and oral communication skills. Worked as a technical liaison for joint development work with company partners. Answered sales questions from prospective clients and dealers. Handled basic troubleshooting questions from customers. Participated in all phases of product development for a web-based HR/Payroll application, including functional requirements definition, user-interface and technical design specification, construction, testing, and technical documentation. Designed user interfaces for portions of a client/server HR/Payroll system, with an emphasis on the tools used by developers to customize the system. Used data modeling techniques to create a database design for a second generation tools product and to document the existing database design. Also worked with business analysts to created data models for numerous product enhancements. Using the data models, built forms, user exit programs (C/COBOL), and reports for a client/server-based HR/Payroll application and for proprietary development tools. Conducted joint requirements planning sessions with clients and internal marketing and technical staff.
