Occupational Therapy Student - Fieldwork Level Iib
CurrentChildren's Pediatric Outpatient FacilityFieldwork experience focused on facilitating play-based occupational therapy interventions tailored to the child's needs, by applying learnt skills sets on sensory integration techniques, adaptive tools/devices appropriate for the child, handling-positioning skills, fine motor/gross motor skills, and providing child/caregiver education, to provide the most beneficial, client-centered care possible. Experience in this setting has allowed opportunity for my professional skills and behaviors to grow, such as improving my interpersonal communication skills through engagement with other therapists, parents, children, and social workers, time management and organizational effectiveness while collaborating with other therapists and family's during treatment sessions, empathy, patience and enthusiasm when engaging with the children to encourage participation in play-behaviors, and enhancing my therapeutic use-of-self, observational skills, and clinical judgement throughout each day, to progress toward becoming a competent, entry-level occupational therapist.
