I am a professional economist with experience across central banking, finance ministries and other government agencies in the UK and New Zealand. I have a BSc and MSc in economics. I have a passion for developing staff and building an inclusive work environment. Currently, I am lead the team responsible for bank capital, macroprudential and insurance solvency policy at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. I have previously lead the team responsible for advising New Zealand’s Minister of Finance on fiscal strategy, including extensive reforms of the countries fiscal indicators and fiscal rules. I have previous macroeconomic forecasting experience from my time at the Office for Budget Responsibility in the UK and leading the forecasting team at the New Zealand Treasury. I have extensive experience communicating the state of the economy to senior stakeholders, including government Ministers. Previously, I have provided economic advice across the microeconomic policy-making cycle, mostly in the energy and climate change space. I’ve conducted Cost-Benefit Analysis at the outset, and managed policy evaluations at the end of the process. I passed the CFA level 1 exam in December 2020. I have experience working closely with project finance and other commercial specialists, for example, when producing the value-for-money assessment of a large low-carbon energy generation project.
