Food reviews are a kick - I get to eat, the restaurant gets a review - win/win. I've written many newspaper articles, web content and press releases for a local private school and food reviews for an online food guide and a local newspaper. Magazine articles are mini adventures that give you a temporary expertise in a subject, provided a writer does a thorough job. I am thorough. I've edited movie scripts, resumes, novels and life histories.

My responsibilities at The Daily Universe included overseeing a group of students in the newsroom, usually 20-48 per semester. I provided guidance in choosing stories and interviewing sources, edited the students' work, taught orientation and subsequent classes to hone good journalistic skills. I interviewed and hired students for student editor positions and worked closely with the A&E and Campus desk editors as well as the weekly magazine (the Friday 411) editor. I served as a mentor and friend to many. Staff duties included editing editions of the newspaper, interacting with fellow staff members and other campus employees. I went above and beyond to make sure the newsroom was a welcoming, safe place for students, even amid the stress a newsroom and daily newspaper can generate.

As the director of the Consumer Action Team I resolved consumer complaints. Members of the purchase plan sent me complaints they had with a variety of businesses and I interacted with business owners to resolve the complaints. I had a 100% success rate during my nearly six years in this position.
