I just completed a BSc. degree at the University of Alberta, majoring in Honours Cell Biology. I completed both the Science Internship Program and Biomedical Research Certificate. Since the end of my third year, I have been involved in research surrounding the secretory pathway of cells and the role of extracellular vesicles in placental malaria, from which I have learned how to think critically and apply knowledge from classes to medical research. Through presentations and writing, I have sharpened my ability to properly analyze data and have gained confidence in my abilities to communicate with professors and peers.In my free time I sing in Kokopelli, a choir that consistently ranks in national and international competitions but also builds strong roots for the choral community in Canada. This is a space where I build my artistic creativity and find fantastic friends. It's a passion I truly love to be a part of.I am also on the students' association of my program as the VP Communications & Outreach, and my role is to communicate with the students and professors in the program, help build awareness around events, and foster a community among students. This keeps me busy and sharpens my social and communication skills as well. At the end of the day, my goal is to continue work in research and get involved with science communications with the public, all the while maintaining happiness for myself and those around me.
