Lab Manager of the Miller Lab (Cortical Systems and Behavior Lab) at UCSD's Department of Psychology and Neurosciences. The Miller Lab aims at understanding the neural basis of natural behavior. Work in the lab combines studies of animal behavior with techniques for recording neural responses in the cortex. I oversee the daily health and well-being of the animal colony, conduct behavioral experiments, train undergraduate students, assist in surgical procedures, and manage the logistical aspects of the lab. I manage two colonies - one onsite and one offsite. Additionally, I supervise the financial aspects of the lab.

Acted as Team Advisor for the Marine Biology Program at NSLC, where I interacted with students through lesson plans and field trips. I communicated my past experience and encouraged students to pursue higher education goals.

I specialized in the investigation of functional macroalgal trait diversity within reef microhabitats during my tenure. My role encompassed a comprehensive evaluation of the ramifications associated with shifts toward algal-dominated communities within reef ecosystems. To fulfill these objectives, I operated an array of experimental methods and instruments, including penetrometers, light meters, and herbivory and nutrient assays. These techniques were instrumental in quantifying functional algal traits and allowed me to contribute valuable insights to the understanding of marine ecosystems and their dynamics. I a currently working on publishing a scientific paper on my team's research.

In my role, I undertook a pioneering initiative to investigate the impact of treatment and location on the recruitment of invertebrate taxa within branching crustose coralline algal nodules (CCA) over time. My approach involved the design and implementation of a novel methodology, which allowed for a comprehensive examination of these factors.To achieve precise invertebrate identification, I utilized stereomicroscopy and conducted extensive literature reviews. This combination of techniques enabled me to identify and document a remarkable total of over 3,000 invertebrates and fish, spanning across 7 phyla and 63 families.Furthermore, my work involved a detailed exploration of the influence of wave energy, distance from the source population, and the structure of CCA beds on the order of infaunal recruitment. This multifaceted analysis provided valuable insights into the complex dynamics of marine ecosystems and enriched our understanding of the factors governing invertebrate recruitment in these environments. I am currently working on publishing a scientific paper on this research.

I collaborated with a UCLA Ph.D. candidate on their thesis research on functional algal trait variation. I analyzed over 300 algal samples using ImageJ and editing software to measure key algal traits.

I collaborated with Dr. Samantha de Putron on a 12-week project exploring thermal resilience and epigenetic inheritance in Bermudian corals. I contributed to the 3-year ENCORE lab study, working with an all-female research team led by Dr. Holly Putnam, Dr. Sam de Putron, Dr. Gretchen Goodbody-Gringley, and Dr. Yvonne Sawall.My work involved hands-on experiments, data analysis of coral parameters, and molecular biology techniques to detect thermal stress indicators. Additionally, I created data visualization graphics using R Studio, JMP, and Excel to effectively communicate our findings.

Volunteered at the Scripps Vaccine Center on the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Checked patients in to receive their COVID-19 vaccines.

In my role as an educator, I had the opportunity to lead interactive activities at the Birch Aquarium. These activities were designed to educate and inspire visitors about various facets of marine life, environmentalism, and the critical issues surrounding overfishing and climate change in marine ecosystems. It was immensely rewarding to communicate these complex topics in an accessible and engaging manner, fostering awareness and appreciation for the world's oceans among a diverse audience.
