In my first semester, I devote my time to rotation projects and to fundamental aspects of genetics in preparation for my PhD thesis. I will develop skills in experimental design, research ethics, literature review, manuscript writing, and wet lab work.

I served as an intermediate for current STEM tutors and faculty, helping tutors prepare and continue to help KSC students. I also tutored for biology and chemistry classes, balancing my time between assisting current tutors as a supervisor and tutees as an aide to their studies.

Fall 2023-May 2024: On a project identifying lineage and genetic differences in Zostera marina, a circumpolar eelgrass. We investigated how individuals manage with changing spacial factors, evaluating their ability to adapt via the spread of genetic material and relationships to one another. I also worked on a chemistry project, synthesizing novel compounds found in OLEDs. I evaluated known compounds' spectral qualities as well as created novel synthetic pathways for new compounds based on those previously published.2022-2023: Studied the rare allergy FPIES using bioinformatic techniques. Processed the data using QIIME2, Songbird, and QURRO in bash. Presented multiple posters on FPIES projects. Was on a protein sequencing project for a semester under the same PI, where I learned proper lab technique, western blotting and protein identification techniques, and analytical skills.

Worked in buildings across campus greeting guests and ensuring that those entering the building were allowed via keycard access. Assisted guests and residents needed campus information or help around the buildings.
