Profile bio

About Keegan Thomson

My name is Keegan and I am the Communications Coordinator at The Hunger Project Australia. I create content, manage communications, share stories, edit images and produce video content for people of all shapes and sizes to consume via new and old media platforms across The Hunger Project's channels. My experience is varied and worldly. I took 12 months off to travel and get married in the UK between 2019 and 2020 only to find myself grounded back in Australia due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I've freelanced across different roles including working as a journalist for many years with Nepean News and Western News, consulted as a journalist and communications expert with the blogsite, The QUO, and in 2020 work for HR consultancy agency, Balance at Work. My passions have to lead me to volunteer positions at The Hunger Project UK (THP UK) working in the Communications and Campaigns team assisting in national fundraising campaigns and marketing projects. I undertook internships with The Guardian, the ABC and The Sydney Morning Herald as well. Community and charity are two passions of mine. In all of my work I strive to be in a position where I can help people. Whether it be knee deep in the fight to end hunger at THPA, covering community development stories at Nepean News or writing about minority groups for The QUO, I always strive to be in a position to do good throughout my career. On top of all my work life I also have passions for swimming, something I try to do at least once a week no matter the season, and I have a First Dan Black Belt in the Korean martial art of Taekwondo. Travel and cultural exploration is also a passion of mine. A few highlights - I've travelled North America without a passport (by accident), ate fried pig intestines in China (again by accident) and stayed overnight in the North Korean embassy in Berlin (another accident). I'd love to connect. Shoot me a message!

Listed skills include Media Relations, Blogging, Radio, Broadcast, and 11 others.
