I consider my 22 years of service in the US Air Force a great privilege. I received the opportunity to travel to multiple locations and interact with different cultures and people. These experiences, along with the multitude of jobs I held, helped me become a leader. I started my career as a mechanic on C-130 aircraft. The flight line was a fast pace, high tempo, industrial area where I spent the majority of my career. This environment trained me to make fast and decisive decisions. It also gave me the chance to learn industrial safety standards and the need for high production in an efficient timeframe. My experience as a Quality Control inspector provided me the opportunity to learn how inadequate training, leads to a poor quality product. My dedication to ensuring quality products enabled me to become a production coordinator. As a coordinator, I developed an understanding of synergy and managed multiple teams simultaneously to complete projects on time. This position also taught me how to synchronize multiple projects in order to get the best results from employees and resources. As a result of my ability to continuously meet deadlines, I promoted to a senior position. Since then, I held three senior management positions: Department Head, Program Manager, and Production Manager. Currently, I hold a senior management position in my organization. Nothing significant happens without people, so managers need to take care of their people. This is why I strive to be a servant leader. Also, continuous improvement needs to happen on a personal, professional, and organizational level. You should be a better version of yourself today then you were yesterday.
