I left high school at the age of 16 in 1996 and joined John Fyfe as a trainee materials technician. In this role I learned a lot about construction materials like concrete, aggregates and asphalt. During my time as a materials technician I gained various qualifications such as City & Guilds Concrete Technology, Doncaster assisted private study diploma in asphalt technology and quarrying. In 2005 I moved into a trainee quarry manager role and then in 2007 became assistant quarry manager at a busy 1mtpa+ hard rock quarry. During my 14 years in this role I gained a vast knowledge in the day to day management of a busy quarry including health, safety and environmental practices and legislation. In 2020 I moved into my current role as a quarry manager in a carboniferous sandstone quarry which produces a range of specialist sands for the construction and sports markets.I believe my strengths are working to a very high standard in every aspect of my job, not accepting anything less than world class, problem solving and having a passion to drive continuous improvements.
