I'm ecstatic about the broad range of things and skill sets I've learned over the years of my working career. I started out delivering flyers at the age of 11, because I was taught you had to work hard to obtain my wants and desires, learning that I had to endure some physical discomfort ifI was to obtain the things I wanted. I then delivered newspapers from 12 years of age to 15 years old and was frustrated, irritated and disheartened to learn that the income I was to receive for my hard work was dependent upon me collecting the money from the clients I delivered to. At my age I couldn't understand why people would say come back as I don't have money today and as I found out in future years that sometimes we over fill our financial plates because we get things that aren't realistically an option. Finally I got employment delivering pizzas. While waiting for a delivery, I was becoming restless because I found doing something was usually better and educational than sitting on my butt. Here's where I found my new passion, learning how dough was made, what prep work was required, the love and appetite for the work and the product. The intoxicated people I would have to deal with, initially was a negative experience then, but I also learned valuable lessons and skill sets for later in life. After 5 years of this profession, I was hungry for a change and I wanted substantially more income and since I always excelled in math, I entered into an accounting program at Norquest College and I was astounded at logic of how it worked, kind of a action/reaction principle and since I'm a person who likes that structure, I enjoyed everything I learned there, though to be honest, I didn't like the typing module which is definitely not a skill set I acquired. Right after finishing school, I signed up for a H & R Block income tax class and was fascinated with the way individuals could reduce their tax burden as long as they knew the deductions were there. I immediately was hired by an Accounting firm as the individual was quite certain after seeing what I had for knowledge from the quizzes we completed and my high marks from school that I would have no problem with excelling in this profession.I grew as a person and learned substantial skills, both hard and soft. The change back to the food industry was due to the excitement of tax season, which was chaotic and the inactive 9 months of looking at a computer, and the clock for quitting time. That's where I learned that I required constant stimulation and the need to keep learning.I like both professions, but love one.
