Mr. Krake is a Principal Engineer in flight test technology development. He is currently the Principal Investigator for the US Army Yuma Proving Grounds study of Micro Instrumentation for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) seeking applicable and optimal methods of acquiring data from a wide range of UAV flight tests. He is also the project systems engineer for the development of a UAV-surrogate sensor test bed platform aircraft, converting a standard Cessna Caravan cargo aircraft. The test bed will be used to test and integrate sensors and multiple sensor systems ahead of the development cycle of the UAS in which they are to be operated. He is also a Subject Matter Expert for DARPA regarding high altitude instrumentation for the Vulture program.

Cradle-to-grave engineering of flight instrumentation in a systems engineering environment. • Lead the rapid-prototyping of research-grade flight instrumentation systems consisting of sensors & transducers, signal conditioning, digital bus interfaces, wiring, PCM encoders, data recorders & telemetry hardware.• Represent the project at meetings with customers gathering project requirements, discussing & resolving technical & programmatic issues.• Prepared wiring & fabrication drawings, parameter calibrations, test plans & procedures, operational checklists & other system documentation.• Coordinate the activities of hardware & software instrumentation engineers and technicians to accomplish measurement requirements within project schedule & budget, & vehicle power, weight and volume constraints.• Support flight test phase of projects, including flight test planning, support of flight research missions from control room, & troubleshooting instrumentation problems as necessary.
