Systems Specialist
CurrentPOSITION SUMMARY: The System Specialist is a professional classification that is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This individual participates in managing and developing activities within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The Systems Specialist also ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values enabling staff and volunteers meet organizational goals. Secondary functions would include Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) configuration; electrical and instrumentation equipment; process controls; monitoring equipment; the Biosolids Environmental Management System (EMS) program; and performing other related duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:• Establishes system specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information,and security requirements; designing system infrastructure.• Establishes system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing server hardware, software, Local Area and Wide Area Networks, and operating and system management systems; defining system and operational policies and procedures.• Performs system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshoots system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management.• Utilizes software associated with Allen Bradley Programmable LogicControllers (PLC’s), and related systems and equipment.• Assists in budget preparation by recommending systems requirements, tools, equipment, contract services, warehouse critical spare parts, and related capital expenditures.• Requisitions parts and materials, contacts vendors for pricing of specialized parts and services, and oversees and inspects work performed by outside vendors.• Supports Biosolids Environmental Management System (EMS) tasks as required.
