  I'm happily engaged in my current role at VICSES as a Project Officer in the Learning and Development team, providing content and maintaining currency of their volunteer and staff technical and personal training packages. Originally employed to update their National Competency based Rescue Boat crew training, my role has been expanded to include the continuous improvement of their training portfolio and also to create a variety of new training modules including Snow Mobile Operator, Child Safe Organisation and a Learning, Education and Development Series (LEADS) for staff and volunteer Unit Management.VICSES is an amazing organisation, very focused on volunteer and community safety. As the Lead Emergency Agency for Flood, Storm, Tsunami, Earthquake and Landslide, you can only imaging how interesting it is to be in their training area .In the course of my work I've been down rivers, frozen in the Alpines and cut the side out of a car as part of our Road Rescue capability and along the way, met some wonderful volunteers and staff. Please don't send any job offers unless they include ridiculous amounts of money and an opportunity to float down the Murray every now and then in search of eddies, boil lines and smiling holes (you will need to look that up or attend one of our training courses.For those searching my past history, I worked at IBM for 37 years in a number of roles and consider myself lucky to have had many unique opportunities and experiences in Customer Service, Business Development, Marketing and Sales, Training, Project Management, Quality Assurance and Risk Management.Prior to that I was an A Grade Motor Mechanic, firstly in the UK working on anything from Ford to Rolls Royce and then migrating to Australia to work on Jaguars.
