Contracts, Negotiations and Commercial Development for Exploration and Production projects in the Americas.

Leader for all Onshore US land activities (later except Marcellus) supporting new business development, exploration, development and production activities. Position involves 5 direct leadership reports with overall staff of 55 company land professionals supporting EP acquisition and operational program for the largest in Shell US onshore history with over 7Bln business activity and substantial annual work program for value capture.

Commercial lead for contractual activities for Shell International, with focus on Latin America. Lead commercial professional in new business development, exploration and regional contracts and joint ventures leadership teams to develop and execute the corporate strategy, business plans and related portfolio decisions Lead commercial representative on value assurance and peer review teams for numerous projects at final investment decision with aggregate gross risk capital investments in excess of $4 Bln. Deal lead for acquisitions and divestitures of petroleum interests with an aggregate transaction value in excess of $1 Bln, while supporting some transaction teams which include midstream and downstream assets. Supervise or mentor six business professionals. Conduct performance assessments and managerial oversight. Perform presentations to senior company management on projects and new business activities. Provide commercial advice to management on exploration, appraisal, development and production projects in Latin America and West Africa. Serve as mentor and undertook leadership role in interviewing, training and advising new professionals in contracts and negotiation roles. Conducted campus interviews and participated in second interviews and new hire recommendations.Led team to finalize a model joint operating agreement for use in Brazil upstream projects. The health, safety and environment provisions were noted as substantial improvements to the industry standard documents and nominated for the annual Shell CEO award.Developed divestiture process for Shell in respect of peer-reviewed data room and opportunity presentations, commercial framing and definitive agreements.

Led commercial activities for Shell’s re-entry into Brazil upstream investments. Secured interests in four key farmin opportunities against competition. These projects included the BC-10 and BS-4 Blocks, presently either in the appraisal or production phases in Brazil.Project lead for a technical and commercial team in Brazil Bid Rounds. Made recommendation to Executive Vice President on selected blocks for bidding. Developed innovative partnering strategy, which secured interests in highly coveted exploration blocks. Represented company at industry meetings to develop position recommendations on fiscal terms and model contract for upstream investments in Brazil. Participated in development of a model concession agreement for presentation to the National Petroleum Agency.Prepared bid agreements and qualified the bid group for submission of bids relative to bid rounds in Trinidad, Angola, Philippines, China and Brazil. Successfully divested partial positions in 4 blocks, through separate transactions and leveraged commercial structure for Shell benefit, with aggregate value in excess of $150MM. Successfully lead or supported activities to partially divest of exploration, production and development interests in China and Middle East. Projects completed with aggregate transaction value in excess of $1Bln. Received special recognition award from company President for extraordinary contribution.Completed a six-month assignment in Royal Dutch/Shell in Holland to develop global EP strategies with the assistance of Booze Allen Consultants. Led strategy development for Latin America. Made presentation to senior management on global EP investment scenarios and a Shell strategy to win.

Led negotiations for Shell to divest of leasehold interests in approximately 50 trades covering properties in Alabama, Texas and Mississippi. Worked with abstractors, title attorneys and field landmen in clearing title to over 50 well sites in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Michigan, and performed division order and shut in payments.Worked as field landman buying leases and supervising contractors in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama and Michigan. Served as lead field landman for Louisiana for Shell in respect of field operations.Provided commercial support to a large oil shale property acquisition of fee interests covering over 60,000 acres of fee interests and associated water rights. Developed a property administration system to maintain the assets, and coordinated grazing leases and other land use agreements. Prepared documentation for water court hearings and coordinating court activities with outside counsel.Led field activities for large mineral take-off of timber company ownership in Arkansas in pursuit of a geophysical seismic option agreement.
