I started working for Mc Crory Engineering in 1991 as a steel erector and after six monthstook on the job of plant finisher. After a few years I returned to steel erecting, site fitting andmaintenance of quarry machinery and plant. Because of my interest in computers I returnedto higher education at SouthWest College (then Omagh College) and after the completion of aHNC in computing and a JEB teaching qualification I was then offered the position of CNCprogrammer / operator.Seven go I was offered the position of production programmer. Because this position is officebased it was part of my duties to help out with other office based tasks. One of these taskswas to help with the production the site safety booklets. As the company expanded and theworkforce increased the need for health and safety procedures and management of thoseprocedures became ever more important. As part of my role I now produce all the health andsafety documentation for our company, risk assessments, method statements, health andsafety reports and improvement recommendations, for both production and site installationsincluding LOLER compliance information and paperwork.All our plant and equipment is manufactured to BS standards and is CE marked, it is myresponsibility to produce all the relevant paperwork, user and maintenance manuals, healthand safety guidelines and instructions, declarations etc. More recently, the production ofadvertising, PR and sales publications have also come under my remit.
