I was C.O.O. for a private equity backed menswear brand. Within the role, I had full accountability for the 90 UK stores and concession units (which has grown from 45 in 2007), 5 Australian stores and 100 International franchise stores.Through the central functions I controlled, I had accountability for all areas of the store estate, distribution, people and both the short and medium term activity planning and delivery.

Through this role I delivered step change programmes in both customer availability and instore customer experiance.Within the availability programme, I improved on-shelf availability through improvements across instore process, colleague ways of working, the flow of product from depots to stores and relationships between the retail, supply and trading teams.Within customer experiance, there were significant improvements in the reduction of customer queue times along with customer and colleague interaction.Both areas showed significant improvements in customer perception.

I helped to establish the role of Retail Managing Director within Asda. I started in 1998 in the West Division with 34 superstores and ended in 2006 in the North Division with 100 superstores and Wal-Mart Super Centres.In the role I had accountability for the overall P&L, Operational best preactise, People and Local Marketing strategy and implementation, store estate and local product ranging.My support team consisted of up to 9 regional managers along with a team of directors covering People, Finance, Marekting and Loss Prevention.
