i worked with the Public Health Department of the hospital which has seven different departments and i was fortunate to work in all of them. My duties were mainly to work at each department namely ACT Clinic, PMTCT Center, Antenatal Clinic as well as going into the the community with a team of health workers to provide free services in terms of treatment to people. I was tasked with knowing the activities involved to ensure that the department achieves its daily objectives examples of these included front desk management, delivery, recording and archiving of patients results, counselling sessions with patients, general health education talks with patients, post pharmacy work like ensuring patient had the right drugs, and initiating new and old patients on Anti-Retro Viral regiments. On top of working in this department i took part in their community outreach programs as well as Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions which were essential in expanding our knowledge on various health issues. All in all worth while experience.
