As the Director of Security at United States Institute of Peace (USIP), I oversee and manage the security operations and protection of USIP's headquarters, staff, guests, and assets. I also support and coordinate security efforts for USIP's field offices and programs in conflict-affected regions around the world. I have been in this role since June 2017, after retiring from a distinguished 28-year career with the U.S. Secret Service (USSS).My core competencies include security management, security investigations, security operations, executive protection, event management, policy development, personnel management, and risk management. I have extensive and diverse experience and expertise in these areas, having served and led security teams and programs for the White House Complex, the President and Vice President of the United States, and numerous high-profile events and dignitaries. I have also completed the FBI National Academy, a prestigious and selective leadership development course for law enforcement professionals. My mission is to ensure the safety and security of USIP and its staff, guests, and assets, while also facilitating and enabling its peacebuilding work and impact. I am passionate about applying my skills and knowledge to contribute to USIP's vision of a world without violent conflict. I am always eager to learn and adapt to the changing security environment and the needs and challenges of USIP's field operations and programs. I am also committed to developing and mentoring the next generation of security professionals and leaders.
