Careif is an international mental health charity that works towards increasing awareness of mental health conditions and the mental health of everyone across all countries and cultures. I joined as an associate last year to volunteer my time to help them build (and sustain) a new website. Going forwards I will be helping with other digital communications as needed.

Manage and develop various digital communications channels for the College, including the main website and an email platform used to reach >20,000 College members.Work with external website developer to identify and manage changes required to website, e.g. addition of new functionality.Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify and service their needs. Keep website in line with brand guidelines.Manage the College’s Image Library and provide training and guidance for relevant users.Provide analytics data for website and email channels including detailed quarterly reports and ad hoc reports for various internal stakeholders.Have overseen the migration of the Sitefinity CMS from external developer to another and then led the upgrade of the website from v12 to v14 of Sitefinity.

I oversaw all aspects of digital strategy at the ICR. This included managing and developing the ICR's main website and social media channels, maintaining a programme of email newsletters, running training courses, and leveraging analytics data to inform strategy.Achievements• Doubled traffic to news items and blog posts by using SEO and improved use of social media• Identified improvements to speed up the donation experience• Led the implementation of a GDPR-compliant website cookie solution• Launched new Instagram and Apple News channels• Quadrupled our audience on Twitter from 4K to 16K followers• Achieved a #1 ranking for Twitter performance out of >200 UK Higher Education Institutions, as assessed by EduRank• Successfully managed the migration of the Sitefinity website CMS from a local host to a cloud-based solution based on a load-balanced server.

Duties included:+ helping organize bioinformatics training workshops+ developing a new website for the Genome Center website and creating/editing content for website and social media channels+ co-teaching of a postgraduate programming course, and an undergraduate bioinformatics course (which I helped develop)+ sys-admin for lab (managing user accounts, backups, installing any bioinformatics software and/or genome databases that are needed)+ various bioinformatics research projects + mentoring to grad students, rotation students, and undergrads

Managed a small team that helped build and develop an important model organism database (WormBase). Was responsible for developing the database and outreach communications.
