I started my professional life teaching Mathematics in secondary schools where I became Head of Mathematics. During the 1980's I gradually progressed into computing moving into industry in 1988. I became the Development Manager for a software house before taking on a large project to design and implement a Waste Management system. In 2000 I returned to education as a senior lecturer in computing and Business Intelligence. I retired as Head of Computing at Sheffield Hallam University in 2015 but continued in research for a further two years.Over recent years I have written a number of papers on the student experience and have used my expertise in Data Mining to assist.I have significant experience of international education particularly in Asia both with partner colleges and universities and as an external examiner.
