It's SAAS offering allowed companies using IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Financial Management (ITFM) practices to create and publish their own service portfolios, manage costs and demand, and provide online service request capabilities. I was brought on board as Director of Software Engineering when the founding CTO left the firm. I had to hit the ground running because the former CTO had built the extensive product and only he understood it, but provided no guidance prior to departure. I headed the software engineering department, reporting directly to the President and CEO.- Developed and managed the engineering department, including staff recruitment, transitioning it from a one man operation to a high caliber software engineering team using lean and agile methodologies.- Managed customer relationships, local on-shore, remote on-shore and remote off-shore QA and engineering resources. - Identified and pursued intellectual property patents, and evaluated companies being considered for acquisition.

Digital Visions was a small firm in the greater Milwaukee area that developed web content and provided outsourced commercial site hosting. I was a contractor serving as an Internet Security Consultant on their client projects. Highlights included:- Performed remote and on-site system and network security audits, with emphasis on the vulnerabilities inherent to internet connections. - Employed security auditing tools to identify and categorize internal and external system and network vulnerabilities.- Documented client risks, generated a recommended countermeasures report, and presented results to upper management for decisions regarding solution implementation.*Note: Digital Visions was acquired by James Tower

Ameritech was the Midwest regional telephone company, which provided services in Michigan, Ohio,Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. I joined Ameritech as a Systems Administrator. Through the course of 5 promotions I moved back into software development and systems management.I managed a team of 3 developers, and was responsible for overall project architecture and development of systems for automated and interactive customer services. I also provided tiered support for multiple internal systems.- Coached team members on object oriented design and methods, including use cases and design patterns.- Provided Tier 3 database and application support for Advanced Intelligent Network service management applications. - Provided Tier 2 support and remote administration for 1200 networked minicomputers running UNIX, Ultrix, SunOS and Solaris operating systems.

Northrop Defense Systems Division was a defense contractor providing hardware and software to the US military. As Digital Systems Software Engineer, contributions included:- Designed, implemented and tested software on UNIX and VAX/VMS for a real-time, message passing, multi-processor system in C and Z8001 assembler.- Integrated, tested, debugged and patched software and hardware in a simulated field environment. This was accomplished using signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes and special purpose hardware.
