ACIA is a community of hundreds (1200+ in June 2022) of crime and intelligence analysts in a wide variety of roles in both the public and private sector across the UK and Ireland. Our network seeks to connect people and through interaction to develop our analytical skills and progress our careers through professional development, ideas and knowledge sharing. We believe that diversity of backgrounds is a strength.All the association's activities are organised by volunteer members.

Company Secretary - Otherways operated Candleston, a beautiful woodland camp site near Bridgend, South Wales which was available exclusively for group hire, family and friends gatherings, weddings etc.

Led on the creation and successful launch of the association. Gathered executive, peer and financial support from key stakeholders to establish a vision and set goals. ACIA achieved more than 1,300 paid memberships in the UK and Ireland with members in 39 police forces and more than 80 other organisations in both the public and private sectors.The association is run by, and for, analysts both public and private sector, and helps its members to develop their analytical skills and progress their careers by providing a variety of networking, professional development and knowledge sharing opportunities.

• Designed and implemented the brand new multi-agency unit, including governance structures, creating a cost effective staff structure, acquiring accommodation, assets and IT infrastructure and designing innovative strategic intelligence processes. • Created collaborative relationships with stakeholders and generated a consensus on strategic vision with a commitment to action.• Led operational delivery of the intelligence capability, generating strategic understanding and providing tactical support, including sensitive assets and implemented an innovative Balanced Scorecard to monitor and manage performance.• Defined the key threats and opportunities and facilitated the creation of strategic objectives for tackling regional organised crime together with actions plans to translate this into operational activity. Results included a 40% drop in Distraction Burglary and the adoption nationally of the plan relating to Human Trafficking.

• Analysed and diagnosed problems, reviewed processes and methodology, identified risks and opportunities, proposed and implemented solutions.• Engaged and influenced clients, expert practitioners and diverse stakeholders in politically sensitive environments, building a consensus and commitment to action.• Responsible for detailed project planning and management, coordinating and leading multi-agency teams to meet tight deadlines.Appointed national lead on three projects (details below).• Organised Crime Group Mapping (OCGM) harm assessment design and development. OCGM is now a key part of the Government’s Organised Crime Strategy and is being implemented in all the main LE agencies.• Project Acumen, a significant research project to estimate numbers of human trafficking victims. The multi-agency report ('Setting the Record') won a national award for the quality of intelligence analysis and was adopted as the official Home Office estimation.• The creation of the ACPO Professionalising Intelligence group (PROFIT) and the subsequent development of National Occupational Standards (NOS) for all core intelligence roles across the police service.

• Transformed the way the organisation was directed and coordinated through the force-wide implementation of the National Intelligence Model.• Developed the use of Intelligence Analysis, designing processes, setting standards and driving the improvement of quality of service delivery. • Implemented a professional development and accreditation system for analysts, introducing an innovative career progression scheme linked to national standards.• Continuously improved the process of production of organisation-wide strategic threat assessments and produced a model recognised nationally as good practice.• Examined and improved a wide range of processes looking at high volume and serious crime including vehicle crime, use of telecommunications data and gun crime.• Led the national project to develop National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Intelligence Analysis and co-designed the first National Intelligence Analysis Training (NIAT) courses, both projects were subsequently adopted as the national standards.

• Responsible for the provision of the full range of tactical and strategic intelligence analysis products in a busy volume crime environment.• As one of the first people to carry out this role established standards and processes and championed the development of the analytical service.
