As a Career Expert, I provide tangible resources, guidance, and advice to aid and empower job seekers to enhance their job search prospects and career development strategies. This includes supporting the development and presentation of educational webinars, sharing expertise on a range of topics with various media publications, assisting with content creation for social media channels, and leveraging extensive knowledge of the career development and job search fields with internal teams at FlexJobs and Resume Now to ensure information presented through articles, videos, and other learning resources is current, relevant, and helpful for job seekers.

In my role as a Career Coach for FlexJobs, I delivered career coaching services to job-seekers looking for roles that provide more flexibility through hybrid or remote positions. In this capacity, I gave advice and guidance to help strengthen job-search strategies, assisted in developing action plans to improve job-search methods, and provided support in the preparation for all facets of the job-search and application process. I also had the opportunity to assist clients in navigating our company platform, answering questions and recommending tools and resources to further support their job search and application efforts. Additionally, I carefully reviewed, edited, and wrote resumes and provided additional information to support the effectiveness of job-seekers in achieving their career goals, empowering them with the means to find a position that is right for them and can improve their quality of life.

In this previous role, I helped provide career coaching services and programming for a wide range of students through individual meetings and group presentations related to career and professional development topics. Additionally, I worked to engage students in educational programs, as well as job shadowing, internship, and employment opportunities; this also included working with first year and undeclared students to help provide chances to explore various major and career options and co-managing a Career Intensive Boot Camp program designed to connect students with alumni mentors to enable an increased understanding of different career pathways and receive direct support from professionals across a wide range of industries. I also served as the liaison to the College of Education and liaison to the College of Liberal Arts, collaborating with faculty to plan and implement industry-specific learning and development opportunities and help support student engagement and retention. I also helped with recruiting alumni to participate in various campus-wide programs designed to improve our students' understanding of different career fields and grow their professional networks.

While working within the Center for Leadership and Engagement, I had the opportunity to work with students and community partners in a wide variety of meaningful ways, including conducting workshops on leadership development and community engagement-related topics, planning and implementing both small and large-scale events, service projects, and community-based initiatives aimed at serving and engaging students and the local community, as well as overseeing the Federal Off-Campus Work Study program and a community-based tutoring program. I also provided direct support in managing the university's student organization framework and serving as the key administrator for the campus's online organizational platform, fielding questions, conducting trainings, and providing technical support to 10,000+ users to help optimize the user experience. Additionally, I had the chance to supervise and closely collaborate with our student-staff and graduate assistants, supporting the onboarding, training, and development process to foster a highly skilled and cohesive team. This role combined my personal interest in educating and supporting others in achieving their academic and professional development goals with my innate passion for the world of service and volunteerism.

In my role as a Career Counselor, I helped students make decisions regarding their major or desired career path; advised students interested in applying for graduate school, internships, research opportunities, and jobs; provided feedback on student resumes, cover letters, personal statements, and other career-related documents; presented workshops to various campus groups covering a wide variety of professional development-related topics; managed our office's programming calendar and social media platforms; taught at least one section of Introduction to Professional Development each semester; and assisted with the planning and implementation of campus-wide events. I also served as the on-campus adviser for the Iota Beta chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and served as a Program Director for a service-learning trip to Puerto Rico during the summer of 2017 as part of Susquehanna University's Global Opportunities Program.
