I am currently completing a Liberal Arts degree with a double concentration in the Humanities and Environmental Studies (focusing on history and Geographic Information Systems) at Soka University of America. I am passionate about people, culture, and the importance of history and shared history in our understanding of the world around us today.I am interested in the ways that digital and spatial history can be used to tell stories often hidden in traditional historical education models. I am interested in documenting and sharing history as a way to educate for the future and to understand current contexts. Through my work as a research assistant, I have begun developing a knowledge of ArcGIS in a historical mapping context alongside regular coursework. I have developed versatile research skills through various opportunities in the non-profit sector, academia, genealogy, and archives.I look forward to developing skills in historical research, digital history, education, and document and database management. I am constantly eager to learn and develop my knowledge base and am enthusiastic about potential further opportunities to do so.
