My career started in Florida, in the adult world of Cardiac Critical Care, and I found that I enjoyed the challenges of working with the critically ill. After moving back to my home state, Alabama, my interest turned toward Neonatal nursing. After working in a Level II nursery for a few years, honing my skills and learning what is a healthy newborn and what is not, I wanted to get back to the challenges of critical care nursing. Caring for the tiniest of our patients, is where I discovered my passion for the NICU. Nothing has been more rewarding. I truly believe you have to love what you do to excel in your profession. And through the love, and tears, I've shared with my fierce fighters over the last 20 years, and, especially, their families, I found my heart. And I carry each one of them with me, inside mine.
