I am the founding director of the Master of Arts in Leadership program and professor of leadership and management at The University of Olivet. My expertise in experiential learning and strategic facilitation skills is employed in classroom and co-curricular programs to strengthen the institution's relationship-focused, social action-based learning approach.

My role as a collective impact consultant is to assist educational, social service, governmental agencies, and businesses in curating collaborative relationships, developing project proposals and executing plans to create, measure, and sustain positive community impact. Working with executive and governance teams, I help organizations identify the behaviors, attitudes, conditions, knowledge, and status (BACKS) their organizational mission endeavors to change. I help the organization design plans, programs, and campaigns for their staff and volunteers to employ in advocating, educating, and empowering positive change. I am regularly invited by foundations, nonprofit and governmental organizations to convene diverse stakeholders and orchestrate dialogue to investigate tough topics and create shared solutions.I have helped secure over $60 million in cash and in-kind support for institutional and community improvement projects.

An award-winning member of the faculty team that orchestrated the strategic transformation of Ketner School of Business. I helped lead culture-shifting design, delivery and sustainability strategy of co-curricular leadership, professional development, social innovation and Makerspace programming that built catalytic relationships between business and engineering students and faculty. I designed, delivered, and evaluated face-to-face and online, undergraduate and graduate organizational leadership, management, marketing and social innovation curricula in alignment with the standards of excellence of the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) and the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).I mentored students as a year-round academic advisor, a technical mentor for senior capstone projects, the academic liaison for business internships, coordinator of Immersion Excursion industry experiences, and advisor to the student #OptOutside Club.My research agenda includes authoring industry-driven updates to a leading Supervision textbook, measuring the impacts of infusing 21st Century skills into undergraduate business programs, investigating organizations’ alignment of technology with their strategy and mission, and authoring organizational behavior case studies.

As an assistant professor, I taught nonprofit and public sector leadership and management in the Master of Public Administration and Public Administration Ph.D. programs. My research agenda included investigating nonprofit organizations’ alignment of technology with their missions; mentoring relationships among nonprofit professionals; and the translation of nonprofit management research and theory to practice. I designed and led the evaluation and redesign of NASPAA-aligned student outcome assessment procedures for the Master of Public Administration program.

As a professional instructor for the Master of Public Administration, I designed, delivered and evaluated nonprofit leadership courses in order to empower students to inspire a shared vision and facilitate teams toward collective impact.

As content-area lead faculty for the Trine University Master of Science in Leadership (MSL) program, I designed, coordinated, taught and evaluated courses and capstone projects in the Nonprofit Organizational Studies concentration in a contracted capacity.

This program was conceptualized to fulfill the need for a hybrid, graduate-level organizational behavior program that empowers students as visionary, ethical leaders and change agents in all sectors of society. I was invited by the University administration to build it.I led curriculum development, student recruitment, online course instructional design, advising, program evaluation, community collaboration and marketing. The online model courses I developed were positively regarded by the U.S. Department of Education on a site visit.I recruited, trained, managed and evaluated 34 adjunct program faculty at 10 regional campuses across Indiana and Michigan.I managed the collaborative work of 26 faculty, staff and graduate students to achieve full program accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).Within its first three years, the program was ranked in the Top 8 Best, Affordable Masters in Leadership Online programs by geteducated.com. I stepped away from full-time program leadership to complete my doctoral research.

As the inaugural Executive Director, I led the development, implementation, and evaluation of federal, state, and local drug prevention and community mobilization projects and generated grant funding of nearly $6 million. I established business/community partnerships that leveraged resources to support drug-free workplace and community initiatives and facilitated local and state policy advocacy initiatives. Outcomes I helped the coalition and community achieve include reducing youth recidivism through coordinated services and community-wide asset-building programs; reducing methamphetamine production through the creation of legislation and protocols to reduce access to methamphetamine precursors; increasing local smoke-free air policies leading to statewide policy; and increasing availability of resources to drug-endangered children. , developed and provided leadership training and technical assistance to volunteer board members and program volunteers. I empowered committees and workgroups to select and implement community-wide high-risk behavior prevention strategies, workplace drug-prevention and tobacco control programs, youth leadership empowerment programs, strategic plans, social marketing campaigns, and environmental change strategies. I supervised and built the capacity of grassroots coalition staff and provided financial and managerial oversight to the 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
