This is a position under the Chicanx Latinx Resource Center (aka El Centro), one of the five resource centers on campus.• Facilitate and assist in informal biweekly events (Pan Dulce Fridays) for Latinx students to network, celebrate their culture, and invest in their academic success• Promote El Centro events and resources to student body by tabling throughout campus• Develop an annual event hosted by El Centro to introduce the student body to local grassroot community groups to grow student identity, activism, and knowledge of local resources• Guide 1,500+ students and faculty during an annual El Centro event by communicating event entrance needs, checking in and directing volunteers to their stations, and answering questions, resulting in participant satisfaction and a smooth running event• Report during biquarterly meetings to the Executive Director of the Ethnic Resource Center and committee of expected El Centro events and allocating Resource Center funding as needed

A summer internship with the LifeLong Medical Care East Oakland Wellness Center, the first and biggest of the Wellness Centers from LifeLong, connected through the Health Career Connection organization, a highly selective national program working towards uplifting and diversifying future public health leaders.I worked towards keeping the Wellness Center running smoothly and improving wellness groups offered. Myself, along with a team of five other volunteers worked on daily tasks I delegated, such as distributing food boxes, clothing, and hygiene materials to Wellness Center patients and community members, creating wellness group flyers and a monthly Wellness Calendar, taking vitals of the patients, and more. The biggest project I worked on was creating, translating and collecting data from four Wellness Center surveys, obtaining data from 100+ patients to improve wellness groups offered and enroll interested patients using tools such as excel sheets and Epic Systems.Other projects I worked on consist of: translating materials from wellness groups such as Diabetes Management and Hypertension Series into Spanish to make classes more accessible to LifeLong Medical patients, 41 percent of which are Hispanic, and designing a model website for LifeLong Wellness - which included LifeLong values and mission, volunteer titles, volunteer duties, and how to apply - to use to onboard volunteers for the Wellness Center at East Oakland.
