About Kelly Luebbering

I have always found that I have a passion for spending time outside and making a difference in the community around me. I was ecstatic when I found a college major that allowed me to combine my passions and will lead to a career that will allow me to continue to pursue them. Through out my college career I have found myself in many positions and classes that have properly prepared me for a career in the Environmental Science industry. I have spent hundreds of hours in Cleveland, Ohio as a field technician, collecting samples for an urban ecology and entomology lab here at Ohio State. I have then spent a significant amount of time in the lab processing the samples and gaining an appreciation for the data analysis and writing processes that occur during research. Working in a lab and as a field technician has taught me the value of hard work, long days, teamwork, communication, and taking initiative. My love for working with people spawned from an environmental service trip to New Orleans, but continued to grow through my time as a naturalist and a teaching assistant for environmental science. I enjoy teaching others about the natural world and helping them to gain an understanding of changes that they can make in their lives to help reduce their carbon foot print. Through these two jobs I have become a better public speaker and I am much better at interacting with people from all age ranges. I have also found that these positions encouraged me to learn about environmental topics that I did not typically read about in my free time. Due to these experiences, I have gained skills such as lesson planning, plant identification, customer service, time management, and problem solving.Moving forward in my career, I am hoping for a job that will push me out of my comfort zone and continue to help me grow as a professional. I want to continue working outdoors, with people, and making a difference in the community around me.

Listed skills include Automated External Defibrillator, Public Speaking, Data Entry, Certified Interpretive Guide, and 17 others.
