The Refinery provides refugee and immigrant women the opportunity to achieve economic independence and social capital through business education and professional mentorships. We use a community-driven curriculum that creates lasting connections with English Language Learner-friendly content. ECHO Collective has developed into a nonprofit that economically and creatively empowers refugee and immigrant women. As the Citizenship Program Manager and Instructor with El Centro de las Américas, I provided my students with the necessary knowledge and confidence to successfully pass the U.S. Naturalization exam and become informed and active citizens. I was also responsible for creating numerous activities and exercises at varying levels to cater to student's differences in English-speaking ability. These additional materials were designed to supplement and complement the curriculum.
