Kelsey Johnson, MA, RPA, has 7 years of experience in cultural resource management and environmental compliance.  She is responsible for performing background research, conducting and supervising Phase I surveys, Phase II and Phase III investigations, managing and utilizing GPS and GIS data, authoring technical reports, and client communication. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from University of California, Santa Barbara and her master’s degree in Anthropology from the Louisiana State University.  Her thesis, Ancient Maya Obsidian Trade: Arvin’s Landing and Foster Farm, Belize explored the reconstruction of coastal Ancient Maya trade routes through x-ray fluorescence analysis of obsidian.  She completed field school with the Belize Valley Archaeological Reconnaissance Project where she was involved in a project to examine the function of the structures around a ceremonial plaza at the ancient Maya site Cahal Pech in San Ignacio, Belize.  She holds certifications in First Aid, CPR, and OSHA 10-hour safety training, and has training and knowledge in GIS, x-ray fluorescence, 3-D scanning and imaging, and NEPA and Sections 4(f) and 106 compliance. Her research interests include reconstruction of prehistoric trade patterns and the manifestation of race, gender, and sexuality within the historical archaeological record.
